Food Review : Luk Yuen, Cash & Carry Makati
My sister-in-law who's working overseas came home a couple of weeks ago and we ate at Luk Yuen. I remember my husband and I with my mother-in-law already ate here years ago but I wasn't able to record it as I didn't know much about food reviews back then. Haha! Anyway, now let me share with you my thoughts about this restaurant.
It looked more pleasant now than it did before, honestly. It looks more clean and easy to the eyes. I remember it has a bit darker interiors back then. Not that dark though, but today's interiors of this restaurant is way better than before. I guess that is why a lot of people are dining here already.
The place looked crowded (it was really crowded though), but now that it has light-colored interiors, plus the glass walls, you wouldn't notice there were no enough space in between the chair from the other chair behind you. Lol! But seriously, it surprisingly looks spacious! BTW, a woman actually bumped my little one when she was getting up from her chair, and my little girl was just right beside me. It was that crowded.
Now, let's go to the food!
They served us tea first. Well, actually we asked for it! Haha!

Cute little tea cups and the water glass as well! Lol! The water glass was too small we had to call the waiter almost all the time to refill our glasses! Lol |
We ordered this Chicken and Corn Soup for Macoki. It was fine. Just plain chicken and corn soup.

Here she is waiting not-so-patiently for the food! Maco trying to keep calm. Hahaha! FYI, it only lasted right after I took this photo! Hahaha! The service was not that fast, but I can totally understand since there were a lot of people that time.

"So Ma, when's the food arriving?" |
This order of Yang Chow Fried Rice gave the 4 of us 1 serving each. So we ordered a plain rice right after we finished this one. Hehe!

The Yang Chow Fried Rice was kind of dry and a little bland for me. But I love that it has those big shrimps in there! But again, I'm quite disappointed that it was not even enough for the 4 of us, because usually an order of Yang Chow Fried Rice from the other restaurants we dined in would even serve the 2 of us an extra serving.

I ordered this one and I didn't really like it as much. I was sad. It has too much flour! And it was honestly not the lemon chicken I was expecting. Huhuhu!

All in all, I like that they revamped the place. And I also like their staff, they're quite accommodating. With their food, their food was okay for me, I think we just ordered some that are just so-so, because their Peppercorn Spareribs was delish! I was just too disappointed with their Chicken in Lemon Sauce though, I can't get over it. Huhu
There's something I hated the most with this restaurant though - it's their water glass! It was freakin too small! It was just a bit higher than their tea cups! And because the place was crowded, we had to wait for one of their staff to not be too busy to pour in on our glasses. And I don't get why don't they just put the pitcher on our table. Haha! I guess, it would be fine though, we just didn't ask. Hehehe!
It is good to know that they already improved their interiors, I dislike dark interiors too, parang ang lungkot lang tingnan. We seldom eat na sa Chinese restaurant and I can't remember the last time we ate. :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Pagkatapos ko picturan, wala na. Nag-wala na hahaha
DeleteLuk Yuen is one of my go to restaurants whenever I crave for Chinese food.
ReplyDeleteHaha your baby's so cute waiting patiently for food. I love Chinese food and Yang Chow fried rice is a favorite of my folks whenever we go Chinese. But you say it's a little dry? Hmmm, must be a bit overcooked? The shrimps on it are huge though!
ReplyDeleteYes, buti na lang talaga malalaki yung shrimps sa yang chow! Pangbawi hahaha ;p
DeleteWe like eating at Chinese restos. Yang chow fried rice and beef with brocolli are our staples. I also like peppercorn spare ribs.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard about this place. Your daughter looks cute on that photo.
ReplyDeleteWe have eaten in that Luk Yuen branch too and I agree it is always crowded. Box office ito lagi sa Cash and Carry. Sometimes we end up eating in one of the restaurants across the grocery. We love their siomai!
ReplyDeleteYup, always crowded sa Luk Yuen na yan hehe :)
DeleteThe place sure looks cleaner and bigger with the white paint. It was unfortunate, though, that you weren't fully satisfied with your orders. When we visit new restos, we make sure we order their bestsellers so that hopefully, we'll get our money's worth.
ReplyDeleteI don't like dark interiors too. I find it unappetizing when it's a restaurant (or anywhere as long as I'm eating. But it's so sad that you didn't get value for money when it comes to the food. :(
ReplyDeleteOMG Maco looks uber cute! I prefer light interiors, too. And those Peppercorn Spareribs look heavenly. Hope they made up for the other dishes!
ReplyDeleteYour kiddoo is so cute. Hehe. Luk Yuen interiors seems nice. With the crowd they had on the day you and your family dined seems their food could be quite good. But in case, I'll dine there, di ko na orderin yung mga inorder mo na so-so hehehehe.
ReplyDeleteOh, I felt your disappointment with the lemon chicken! I, too, feel bad that it was not given the right amount of justice it needs! Hehe I am a fan of chicken dishes kasi. Anyway, I am actually delighted with the revamped interior. Minimalist - I think that's what they call it :)
ReplyDeleteI think I've eaten there once before. I've always thought of it as a small, a bit dirty Chinese eatery. It's good that the interiors look fresher and brighter already.
ReplyDeleteI would have ordered chicken in lemon sauce, too. But it's sad to know the chicken got too much flour on it. Any desserts worth trying?
ReplyDeleteI think the first time I ate at Luk Yuen Cash and Carry was when I was still in College (traffic kasi). Now I'm craving for some Chinese food.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Ha! Ang cute ni Maco sa table! Yang chow is always a must whenever I am in a Chinese Restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI've tried Luk Yuen ever since I was young. Chinese food has always been something our family gravitated towards, us being partly Chinese. I haven't been there recently though. Glad to know they revamped that branch.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite restaurant in Cash & Carry! My mom and I used to dine here a lot and I absolutely love their Prawn Puff and noodles. :)
ReplyDeleteWe ate here during my birthday this year. Yummy food! :)
